Tracey McDermott to leave the FCA

The acting chief executive of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) is leaving the organisation.

Tracey McDermott will step down on 1st July 2016 after announcing that she would not be running for the role of permanent chief executive in January.

John Griffith-Jones, Chairman of the FCA, praised Tracey for the work she had done since becoming acting chief executive in September 2015 and the contribution she had made in various roles at the regulator during the last 15 years.

“Transitions are always challenging and her energy and clarity of purpose have been invaluable in steering the organisation in the right direction,” said John.

“I know she will continue to lead the FCA with the same commitment until Andrew Bailey arrives in July and I and the board are grateful for her unstinting support.”
