Bank fires two workers as spying allegations grow

.

Two staff workers have reportedly been dismissed from their posts at Deutsche Bank, following allegations of spying that could lead to a criminal investigation.

It is thought that the two members of staff hired private detectives to carry out surveillance on two board members and a shareholder.

German state prosecutors are said to be investigating whether the bank’s actions have violated data-protection laws.

Deutsche Bank is Germany’s largest lender. According to the Financial Times, two months ago the bank disclosed that it had asked external lawyers to investigate the activities of its corporate security team.
