Private rental prices unstifled by Brexit




Private rental prices paid by tenants in Great Britain rose by 2.4% over the past year, new data has revealed.

An Index of Private Housing Rental Prices (IPHRP) published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) found that private rental prices grew by 2.6% in England for the 12 months ending July 2016.

Meanwhile, prices grew 0.2% in Scotland and were unchanged in Wales

In England, rental prices increased across all regions, though the South East saw the biggest growth at 3.5%.

London rental prices also rose by 3%, while the East Midlands increased by 2.5%

Meanwhile, the North East of England experienced the lowest growth, with rental prices rising by only 0.9%.

This trend continued in the North West, where prices rose just 1.2%.

Since 2013, rental prices across the UK have risen by 2.1%.
