Nine in court deny involvement in multimillion pound mortgage fraud

.

It has been reported that eight men and a woman have appeared in court in connection with a £7 million mortgage fraud, which took place over five years, across a number of addresses in Aberdeen.

The individuals – 48 year old David George Pocock, 49 year old David Mark Pocock, 43 year old Russell Taylor, 46 year old Patrick Pocock, 62 year old Alistair Walker, 53 year old David Ramage, 49 year old Franck Pocock, 42 year old Mark Mackie and 41 year old Arlyn Craig – have all denied the offences, which include being involved in a fraudulent scheme to obtain money, property and mortgages.

It has been alleged that the nine property professionals gave false purchase prices, as well as fraudulent mortgage forms and valuation reports between June 1998 and July 2003.

Four of the men have been accused of making over £130,000 by selling a property that they had been refused a mortgage for, and didn’t own.

Lenders such as Northern Rock and the Woolwich are thought to have lent £2.25 million to the gang in fraudulent mortgages, whilst a further £112,000 was obtained from Bristol and West building society.

The case could last up to five months, with the first witness expected to be called in the next few days.
