Property Lawyers scoop industry award

.

It seemed to be a modern day David and Goliath tale as last week a little known law firm triumphed against a handful of big names to win an industry award for Best Conveyancer 2010.

At the 2010 Mortgage Strategy Awards, held last week at London’s Grosvenor Hotel, Berkshire-based solicitors, Gordons Property Lawyers, beat heavyweight contenders such as Goldsmith Williams, and Countrywide to snag the title.

Although Gordons admits to being publicity and PR shy, it is no small fish. In fact, it is one of the biggest remortgage specialists in the country, as statistics from the Land Registry have shown that it was the top 3 provider of registrations for conveyancing transactions in 2009.

Even the company’s Managing Partner, Bob Bhalla, is the first to say: “I guess we’re bigger than we thought we were.”

Mr Bhalla attributed his privately owned firm’s win to being on a large number of lenders’ panels and also because brokers found his long-standing team of staff knowledgeable and approachable.

Having taken swift action last year to avoid the worst effects of the property downturn, the small-but-mighty law firm is now looking to capitalise on its new found fame and ring in 2010 slightly better known than before.

Mr Bhalla added: “I’d like to thank all the individuals and companies who voted for us. We appreciate your kind comments about our efficiency, friendliness and referral fees.

To be recognised at this prestigious event is a great honour and I’m very proud of my whole firm, as it’s only through their tremendous contribution that we’re able to achieve such high accolades.”
