Two building societies have both announced that they have filled a senior position within their team.
Nationwide Building Society has appointed Joe Garner as Chief Executive and Leeds Building Society has appointed Gareth Hoskin as Non-Executive Director.
Joe is expected to start his role at Nationwide in spring next year after joining from BT where he has been Chief Executive of Openreach since 2014.
He has also held high-profile jobs at HSBC, Marks and Spencer Bank and First Direct.
David Roberts, Chairman at Nationwide, said: “I am delighted that Joe Garner has agreed to join Nationwide Building Society as Chief Executive, succeeding Graham Beale.
“Joe has an excellent track record in delivering outstanding service to customers across the financial services and retail sectors, and is a passionate advocate that financial services organisations should always put the customer first.
“Joe is an exceptional leader and is exactly the right person to lead the society through the next chapter of its journey. I look forward to welcoming him to the business.”
Gareth, who will join Leeds Building Society with immediate effect, was most recently a director at Legal & General and CEO of its international division until his retirement in 2013.
Gareth said: “I understand the requirements of operating in a highly regulated environment and am excited to be joining Leeds Building Society’s Board at a time of strong growth and investment in the future of the business.”
