Abby Alexander: on the rise
After graduating in 2024, Abby Alexander moved straight into finance—putting her on the trajectory that has seen her promoted to Business Development Executive at TAB less than a year after joining as an internal sales specialist

Here, she discusses the art of asking the right questions at the right time, and why true ambition is about more than job titles
You joined TAB as a graduate in internal sales and quickly moved into a business development executive role. What drew you to specialist lending?
I graduated from Leeds with a 2:1 degree in business management and knew I wanted to work in finance.
My first job was junior bond broker. That taught me about working in a high-pressure environment where you need to absorb information quickly and make informed decisions. I passed all the exams for the CISI capital markets programme.
What attracted me to TAB was the opportunity to try something new. It was the prospect of learning about the industry while being much closer to people and businesses. In commercial mortgages and bridging finance, you aren’t just looking at numbers—you have to understand the property, the borrower, what they are trying to achieve and why.
I get to understand how cases develop while working with more experienced people. My aim is to build knowledge and become someone brokers can rely on—someone who can, say, deliver commercial mortgages at bridging speed.
