Aldermore appoints new Head of Commercial Mortgages

Aldermore Bank has announced the appointment of a new Head of Commercial Lending.

Gareth Claxton has been appointed Head of Commercial Lending at Aldermore and is taking the newly created role as part of the wider growth plans the challenger bank intends for 2014 and beyond.

In his 22 years of experience of commercial lending, Claxton has been a Regional Director at Santander Corporate & Commercial banking and was responsible for a large commercial mortgage portfolio.

Speaking on his appointment, Gareth Claxton said: “I’m delighted to have joined Aldermore, which is really making its presence felt in the commercial mortgage market. Aldermore Commercial Mortgages has ambitious targets for the year ahead and I’m looking forward to helping it become a leading player in the SME market.”

Reporting to Rob Lankey, the Commercial Mortgages Managing Director, Claxton will take the role as part of the wider growth plan for the Commercial Mortgages team at Aldermore.

Rob Lankey said: “I’m delighted to welcome Gareth to the team. He is well known in the commercial mortgage market and I have no doubt that his considerable experience will help us have another successful year in 2014.”

Claxton will be based at Aldermore’s Peterborough Head Office.

In a separate announcement today, Aldermore also announced three key hires to its Asset Finance team, which is aiming to lend over £750 million this year.

Emma Irving joins from BNP Paribas and becomes the new Head of Materials Handling; Nova Everidge has become Head of New Business Origination and joins from Close Asset Finance, having previously worked at ING Lease and GE Capital; and Hayley Pearson becomes Head of Servicing and Support, following an internal promotion.
