It has been announced that Lynda Blackwell, Manager of the Mortgages Sector at the FCA, is set to appear as guest speaker at this year's ASTL conference.

This year’s event will be held at the Painters’ Hall in London on 16th September,  where the conference entitled ‘Bridging –Opportunities and Challenges’, will cover issues such as the impending implementation of the EU Mortgage Directive, the potential impact of the new Financial Policy Committee measures and  other industry issues.

Lynda Blackwell, oversaw the implementation of the Mortgage Market Review, which has reset the conduct baseline for the market and remains core to the Sector’s forward strategy. With Lynda’s expertise in the field of over 25 years, her guest slot is guaranteed to be an insightful one.

The conference is open to all lenders, intermediaries, financial advisers, bankers, solicitors and surveyors, plus anyone else who will be affected by the short term lending market. As the ASTL website states: “If you are interested in bridging, you must attend.”

Benson Hersch, Chief Executive of the ASTL said: “With every month that goes by there are new challenges that are affecting short term lending. Regulatory changes, fraud, the state of the economy and the likely rise in interest rates will all have a big impact.

“The conference will explore the opportunities associated with bridging and short term lending; it will also explore the challenges that we face and will explore the ways to prepare for and overcome these challenges.”

The Association of Short Term Lenders works to protect and promote the interests of its members and give confidence to all those who transact business with its members.

The Financial Conduct Authority is the regulatory body for the financial industry and monitors the firms and advisors which work within it and aim to uphold the integrity of the market.
