Landwood's online auctions sell &pound7.5m of property during lockdown

The Manchester-based auctioneer has continued to hold its weekly sales online with a surge in registered bidders.

Recent sales included: 

• A three-bedroom terrace in Sefton, Merseyside, with a guide price of £25,000, attracted 167 bids and sold for £71,500
• 388 bids were made for a plot of land in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, that sold for £140,250, from a guide price of £25,000.
• there were 150 bids for a plot of land in Stroud, Gloucestershire, that had a guide price of £100,000 and sold for £325,000
• 298 bids were made for a plot of land in Stalybridge, Cheshire, that sold for £95,250.

Kate Lay, director at Landwood Property Auctions (pictured above), said: “While lockdown has presented significant challenges for many in the market, we have found the opposite to be true.

“As online property auction experts, we’ve seen record numbers of bidders taking part, driving sales to £7.5m since March.

“Holding our sales on a weekly basis — in contrast to the industry-standard, four-week approach — allows us to actively engage with potential buyers for longer and deliver better returns for clients.”

Landwood has 60 lots listed this month, with a further 20 likely — up from 46 in July 2019.

These include a studio flat in Manchester’s Beetham Tower with a guide price of £115,000, and a three-bed semi in Blackpool with starting bids of £85,000, alongside a pair of former Cumbria County Council care homes.
