Marsden Building Society has teamed up with Lancashire Police to raise awareness of potential frauds and scams.
Police will be visiting six of the building society’s branches in the North West during awareness week to aid the lender’s work on training its staff on knowing its customers so they are aware of any unusual behaviour.
Inspector Martin Kane of Lancashire Police said the week was all about educating people to be vigilant and to always question what doesn’t look or feel right.
“Scams can come in many guises, from online dating, door-to-door cold calling, to phishing emails asking for bank details, but the message is clear. Remember: Think, Check, Act,” said Martin.
Heather Crinion, General Manager at the Marsden Building Society, added that during its history it has built up trust with its members and its focus is to ensure they are all protected and their finances are safe.
“The week will be a great opportunity to educate our members on how to keep their homes safe and to be vigilant around their finances,” said Heather.
“We are pleased to be partnering with Lancashire Constabulary over this week to build awareness for a cause that is very important to the Society, our staff and most importantly, our members.”
