Mint launches first-time developers academy for aspiring property developers

New educational initiative combines funding expertise, practical learning and ongoing support

Mint Property Finance has launched Mint First Time Developers Academy, a new educational initiative designed to help aspiring property developers build confidence and knowledge.

The academy has been launched by Mint’s head of credit, Sam Herd (pictured above), to encourage the specialist finance industry to invest in creating the next generation of SME property developers.

While funding remains an important part of every development journey, Sam believes first-time developers need more than finance alone.

Mint said the academy will provide a practical understanding of what lenders expect, how development finance works and how to prepare a strong application.

Members will have access to educational content covering every stage of the development journey, helping them better understand the funding process before submitting their first application.

The programme will include:

· a dedicated members’ area containing practical learning resources

· a comprehensive training article published every month

· a monthly academy update email summarising the latest learning

· weekly social media tips, guidance and insights

· quarterly online sessions featuring real case studies and expert Q&A

· twice-yearly networking events bringing together first-time developers and industry professionals

The content will draw upon the experience of Mint’s development finance team, underwriters and portfolio managers, sharing the lessons learned from supporting development projects from application through to redemption.

Commenting on the launch, Sam said: “Every experienced developer once submitted their first development finance application.

“We believe specialist lenders have an opportunity not only to fund the next generation of developers, but to help create them.

“By combining education with practical insight and funding expertise, we’re giving aspiring developers the confidence to take that first step.”
