New broker service launched to attract clients
By Tom BelgerA new tool has launched this week in order to prevent brokers from losing clients to competitors when the borrower requires solutions that the advisor is unfamiliar with.
Section: Fintech
The new service, Broker Refer, evolved from an experience had by then mortgage broker Alistair Stuart. He felt that he lost business due to the fact he had to refuse some clients who approached him.
Commenting on the launch, Alistair said: “We’d like to start off gently. We have a panel ready to use of about 15 brokers already, and so we would like to see how many enquiries we get and how we cope with them before we start to expand.”
Broker Refer can find products for queries from most areas. Its services branch across commercial mortgages, bridging finance, international mortgages, secured loans, debt solutions, and also includes conveyancing.
It is quick and simple to use, brokers register online and provide an outline of the product they require and leave Broker Refer to the rest.
Alistair added: “We have had some interest already in the service, and hope to get some regular clients come to use when they want to keep clients.
“Don’t risk your client approaching another broker for an enquiry that you wouldn’t normally deal with – refer it and retain control of that client.”
Also giving their views on the new system, Simon Allen, Director of Total Business Finance (UK) Ltd, said: “It’s linked to a broker so it’s a lead generation site. Not sure about the comment “with many commercial brokers only having Shawbrook, Aldermore, Santander and Bank of Scotland on their panels” Shawbrook are certainly selective. Clever play on words from their marketing. Brokers in networks have their chosen packagers and directly authorised have plenty of choice in the market from the giants like Brightstar to the niche like ourselves. Good luck to them although I don’t think it’s anything different.”
It is an interesting addition to the market, providing an alternative to the assistance provided by some networks for these kinds of scenarios. Broker Refer potentially acts as a lifeline to the smaller or more inexperienced brokers by ensuring they can maintain their client base.
