Property boss banned for 7 years

A Director who received a suspended jail sentence has now been given a seven year ban

A Director who has received a suspended jail sentence is now being stripped of a property portfolio.

John William Dixon has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment, suspended for two years, after pleading guilty to acting in the management of two companies -
West Translations Limited ( Co.no 07091468) - and Aplingo Limited Guernsey( Co. no 50820) -whilst he was disqualified. Now, he is stuck with a seven year ban and will have to repay a colossal £200,000 fine.

Whilst he was disqualified, Mr Dixon took part in the promotion, formation or management of both West Translations Limited ( Co.no 07091468) - and Aplingo Limited Guernsey( Co. no 50820) , between 2009 and 2011, without the leave of the court.

While he benefited from his criminal conduct, Mr Dixon did not pay his creditors for works completed on his behalf. The invoices ranged from £35 to £16,702. The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills sought compensation for 75 victims.

Tony James, Investigation Officer from the BIS, said: “The Department of Business, Innovation & Skills will not tolerate such activity. By pursing Mr. Dixon through the court for these criminal offences the Department have secured compensation for several victims as well as a confiscation order for the benefit Mr Dixon obtained in the commission of his crime.

Mr Dixon failed to convince BIS that his actions were confined and that some creditors did not go unpaid. As a result BIS initiated confiscation proceedings.

So that his victims can be fully compensated, his interests within four properties will have to be realised.

This will see Mr Dixon lose a total of £200,000, to be paid within six months. If the confiscation order is not paid before the time limit, Mr Dixon could face a further eight months imprisonment.

In addition to the 12 month suspended prison sentence- suspended for two years, Mr Dixon was ordered to undertake 200 hours of community service, and has been disqualified from acting as a Director for a further seven years.
