UTB promotes Robert Owen to MD of mortgages and bridging

Currently responsible for the bank’s specialised mortgage division, Robert will now take additional responsibility of UTB’s bridging finance division. 

Harley Kagan, group managing director at UTB, said the lender had been delighted with Robert’s role in the launch of the specialist mortgage division.

“We will now be using Robert’s considerable experience to develop both our mortgage and short-term lending propositions with a clear mandate to continue their evolution, while at the same time ensuring the bank provides unrivalled intermediary service.”

The news comes as UTB also revealed it had appointed Jo Edwards, the former commercial director at Nemo, as its business development director. 

Jo will be working with Buster Tolfree, commercial director of specialised mortgages, and Gavin Diamond, commercial director of bridging, to help enhance UTB’s product ranges and develop the business.

Robert said he was very pleased to welcome Jo to UTB and said she joined at an exciting phase of the bank’s development. 

“We have had a successful first year since launching our specialised mortgages division with strong growth and a very positive reception from brokers. 

“Jo’s appointment underlines our commitment to continue growing UTB’s mortgage and bridging businesses and demonstrates the importance we place on building a strong team to deliver the high levels of service our customers deserve.”

Robert Owen was previously CEO of Central Trust before joining UTB.  

The announcement comes after head of bridging Alan Margolis moved to a new role of director of legal – mortgages and bridging a few months ago.
