Bibby appoints ex-IGF Group director

Bibby Financial Services (BFS) has appointed John Nelson as its head of corporate for the central and southern regions.

At BFS, John will lead a team of corporate managers to develop asset-based lending and larger-ticket invoice finance deals throughout the central and southern regions of the UK.

John – a chartered banker – has 20 years of commercial finance experience, including 13 years in banking, having served at Lloyds Commercial Finance, GE Capital, RBS and Metro Bank.

He has joined BFS from IGF Group, where he held the post of managing director for asset-based lending.

At IGF, John’s team was responsible for structuring transactions for growth, refinancing, restructuring, management buyouts and management buy-ins.

John said: “BFS’s scale and capability is unrivalled in the independent sector and I’m delighted to join such a forward-looking business at a time of significant growth.

“BFS is a client-centric, relationship-based provider with growing ABL capabilities and I’m excited to help the business to grow its support for UK PLC further, working with business owners and advisers alike.”

Ben Smith, UK corporate sales director of BFS, added: “In recent years, we have significantly developed our corporate funding capability to include stock finance, foreign exchange and asset finance.

“This has enabled us to write a greater volume of and more sizeable ABL deals, unlocking working capital to help businesses to grow in both domestic and international markets.

“Having an individual of John’s calibre is a huge advantage to us and I’m certain that his experience and knowledge of the UK finance sector will help us to expand our corporate funding support for businesses even further.”
