CPSP qualification launches for specialist lending sector

The Certified Practitioner in Specialist Property Finance (CPSP) qualification has officially launched following a joint initiative between the ASTL, FIBA, and the London Institute of Banking & Finance (LIBF).

The optional e-learning programme — covered in the Jan/Feb B&C Magazine — will cover bridging, development finance and specialist BTL, and has been in the making since October last year.

It provides a definitive and targeted education course for the specialist lending sector; participants who complete the modules will be recognised through the award of an LIBF digital badge and accredited for CPD purposes.

The qualification has already received a significant number of registrations from finance professionals, and some have already started working towards achieving the accreditation.

Those interested in taking the qualification can register their interest online on the dedicated page.

Vic Jannels, CEO at the ASTL, said: “The launch of the CPSP is the culmination of a long and exciting journey and an excellent example of trade associations working together for the benefit of the industry and our customers.

“This is a major steppingstone in continuing to enhance standards, increase professionalism, and advance the reputation of the specialist finance sector.”

John Somerville, head of financial services and professional education at the LIBF, said the programme “complements the need to embed the higher standards required from Consumer Duty”.

“The programme has been designed with lenders and brokers in mind [and], ultimately, it will help them improve outcomes for clients in an ever-complex lending world,” he continued.
