According to the research, the average seller in 2023 put their property up on the market after nine years, which in that time earned them from £30,000 to £137,000 depending on location.
The average seller of a £275,000 property earned £74,000 according to the company.

London sellers making an average of £137,000, the equivalent of £15,000 for each year of ownership, while in the North East the average seller made £30,000, equating to just over £4,000 for each year of ownership.
Those selling bungalows and detached homes made over £100,000 on average.
The research said that 93% of sellers made profit despite a fall in house prices, despite this, the data also highlighted that one in 14 sellers sold at loss of an average of £17,000.
Zoopla analysed a sample of over 100,000 land registry entries over the past year in order to gather the data.
