Metro Bank has appointed a new managing director of commercial banking.

Mark Stokes joins from RBS where he was an executive director and managing director of corporate banking at Williams & Glyn.

He also spent 25 years at Lloyds Banking Group where he held a number of senior positions including managing director of commercial banking.

Mark’s new role will see him run Metro Bank’s expanding commercial activity and champion SMEs, which account for half the firm’s total lending.

“I’m proud to be joining a bank founded by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs,” said Mark.

“Metro Bank is fanatical about offering incredibly high levels of service and convenience, including to those running their own businesses who are joining the bank in droves.”

Craig Donaldson, Chief Executive Officer of Metro Bank, added he was delighted to welcome Mark to the leadership team.

“He will play a pivotal role in driving the business forward whilst ensuring our business customers continue to receive nothing less than the very best in customer service,” said Craig.
