Commercial finance industry aims to raise £60,000 for Lee Albino's bionic leg

Funds are currently being raised to buy a bionic leg for Lee Albino, regional development manager at Shawbrook (pictured above).

Sadly, Lee recently had to have his leg amputated at the hip due to cancer.

His condition escalated quickly from a routine knee operation last year to breaking his leg due to the cancer a few weeks ago, which then resulted in the operation to remove his leg.

Once the wound heals, he faces six months of intensive chemotherapy, and then the journey to walk again begins with a prosthetic leg.

Gavin Seaholme, head of sales at Shawbrook Commercial Property, had the idea to set up a JustGiving page and Phil Gray, managing director at Watts Commercial Finance, put it into motion.

The page is now live with a fundraising target of £60,000.

So far, at the time of writing a total of £15,405 has been raised.

Phil said: “We've set up the JustGiving page to support one of our industry’s most loveable characters in his hour of need.

“The bravery and dignity that Beans [As Lee as is known by his mates] has shown since his diagnosis is admirable and his positive outlook on recovery will undoubtedly carry him through.

“Our objective has been two things: to make him smile and to raise as much money as we can to support Beans with the best technology available so that he can walk again and return to the job he loves.

“As such, we would ask our commercial colleagues and the big businesses that drive this industry to dig deep for one of their own and let’s show the country how the commercial finance family pulls together.”
