Talk of the town

Talk of the town

Read all about the latest gossip from the industry after hours. From selfie-obsessed professionals to Twitter feuds, The Weekender knows everything….

Everyone seems to have been out and about recently, taking full advantage of the sunshine and escaping the offices.

As a couple of secret sports stars have been spotted within the industry as of late, The Weekender uncovers what other extra-curricular activities everyone has been up to…

Avoiding being sat at the desks

Robert Dibb at Advoco Financial took to Twitter to admit he was skiving from work, but we’ll let him off for at least being cultured about it.

However, Precise Mortgages got one up on Robert, by actually mingling amongst the Royals whilst at Newquay. Their clients got up close and personal with Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Sports Days

In keeping with the sports theme, many of us were out and about at matches and races, albeit as spectators not participants, except for the Buy to Let Business who are currently training for the Tough Mudder challenge in October.

Andrew Hosford from Voltaire went along to the Oval to enjoy the wonderful British past time of a good game of cricket, courtesy of Savills.

Of course, we can’t miss out the Property Race Day at Royal Ascot. Our very own Chanice Henry went along with Dragonfly Property Finance and had a successful flutter on the horses. The day made a fantastic amount for charity, and allowed the event to hit £1 million in funds raised since the occasion’s creation in 2007.

Vantage got snap and selfie happy on the day:

It wouldn’t of course be a sports round up if we missed out the football. The end of the World Cup commenced last week, and many took it as a chance to test the odds and see if they could win a few pounds.

Scott Thorpe at Access 4 Finance had a very good result, and caused confusion in the B&C office by announcing he had very good profits. The morning after it was uncovered this was betting related, not business related. Perhaps a feature on the industry’s gambling habits is in the pipeline?

Working on our ‘summer bodies’

Then, on the other side of sport, the Brightstar Boys have ventured into summer diets and have noted the successes, as well as the ‘blip’ of their first weigh in. It’s ok boys, there’s always next week, just maybe less fry-ups though?

The boss was still keeping an eye on them though, all the way from Sardinia.
