Shawbrook completes first E-AIP-generated deal




Shawbrook's commercial team has completed its first deal generated via its new E-AIP digital application process.

The challenger bank teamed up with broker partner, Marlin Commercial Limited, for the first completion using the E-AIP process.

The process has resulted in greater speed for brokers as it aims to produce a hard credit-backed IMO (Indicative Mortgage Offer) within 15 minutes. 

Shawbrook reported that for the week ending 3rd June, 50% of E-AIPs were instantly accepted, while the remainder were referred to the lender’s team and a decision was provided to brokers within four hours compared to 48 hours under the old SLA (Service Level Agreement) process.

Karen Bennett, Sales & Marketing Director of Commercial Mortgages at Shawbrook, said the lender had received a lot of positive feedback from brokers.

“While benefitting from this resource, they have also suggested some tips for improvement which are welcomed by our internal teams. 

“When combined with the ongoing updates our Data & Projects team are applying, this has resulted in an increasingly intelligent online application journey. 

“Pleasingly, brokers and their clients are the beneficiaries of greater speed and convenience during their applications, which was a significant aim of introducing E-AIP in the first place.”

Karen added that Shawbrook was a broker-driven business and therefore broker efficiencies were at the heart of what it did.

“I would like to emphasise that, as ever, our lending teams are available to talk through case details where required. 

“Maintaining the personal relationships we have cultivated over several years will always remain at the top of our agenda.”

Paul Griffiths, Director at Marlin Commercial Limited, said it was eager to see if the E-AIP would live up to promises made by Shawbrook and said he was not disappointed.

“From the off, we received an IMO within 15 minutes of application which is exceptional. 

“Valuers were instructed within a day and the Shawbrook teams remained on hand to assist with the fine details throughout the application process.
