Award-winning commercial lender Shawbrook Bank has promoted Stephen Johnson to Deputy CEO as he joins the Board of the Company with immediate effect.

The appointment comes at a time of exciting growth for the bank which announced a successful IPO with admission to the LSE in April.

Stephen has 12 years' experience in building specialist lending businesses and will continue in his existing role as Managing Director of Shawbrook’s successful Commercial Mortgages Division.

“We launched Shawbrook in 2011 with big ambitions for the Bank, and I’m delighted to take on the role of Deputy CEO at the start of a significant new chapter in Shawbrook’s journey,” said Stephen.

“We are committed to ensuring our processes, operations and framework are the best they can be for our brokers and customers, and this will continue to be a core focus for the Commercial Mortgages division in 2015 and beyond.”

Prior to joining Shawbrook, Stephen was part of the founding team at Commercial First and has become an established figure in the intermediary market.

B&C reported in May that Stephen had gained regulatory approval as Deputy CEO following the announcement of then CEO Richard Pyman’s leave of absence.
